The country location
I didn't like having to have my blood pressure taken before using the gymnasium. This should be optional and not a prerequisite to being able to use the gymnasium. I thought this was an unnecessary intrusion.
good location,large rooms
We stayed in room 230 and the back window which faced the Thornton suite, it was very noisy especially in the mornings when they where delivering things. I would suggest you don’t book the rooms on this section of the building if you want a quite night.
thornton hall is a lovely location and makes both chester and liverpool easily accessible, by car or by train. it is very peaceful and relaxing and the spa is just lovely!the seven star pub just in the village offers a nice and friendly alternative to dining at the hotel if you want something more casual and the food is superb!
we had continental breakfasts each morning and the choice was very sparse! menu needs revamping!certainly not worth the £9.50 charge but eaten in a lovely dining room with friendly staff.
being able to relax from the moment i arrived until i went to bed. The view from my room was beautiful. Will definitely stay again and again. Thankyou.
When i retired for the night my peace was shattered by the noise coming from the room above. I didn't bother telling anyone as i was just too tired. But this can happen anywhere. Also the i thought the chair in my room was a bit shabby and torn on the arm.
Only stayed overnight and had to leave early next day so really did not have time to take advantage of your facalities, but enjoyed the evening meeting with friends in the bar. Also had a bar meal wish we really enjoyed.
One of the very few hotels that can cook a decent fried egg
very impressed with the standard of accommodation for the price paid
Apart from initially being kept waiting at reception without being acknowledged, the service I received from the staff was extremely good. I stay in a lot of hotels for business and I thought this sort of service was not found in the UK. Well done.
I had my stay in september my room was ok but up for two night I was right next two the party room you wood think that there wood be a cut of time? The fist night up till 3.30 and the next night it was very late ?
fantastic spa facilities
i booked a superior room with balcony and tv in bathroom. On arrival , both of these facilities could not be provided.
We really enjoyed the spa; staff were very helpful.
We picked Thorton Hall hotel as a good base to attend a family funeral and visit family in the area. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was clean and tidy and everything worked. During our stay we found some spare time to use the Spa facilities.Lovely! We would certainly use the hotel again.
The only down side to the hotel was at times it was a bit noisy but this is to be expected as there was a wedding function at the hotel and unfortunately not everyone is alway considerate of other guests!
The hotel and spa are superb. I was staying as part of a wedding party but would happily return for a solo break and would strongly recommend to family and friends. The reception staff are amazingly friendly, helpful and charming. The spa is glorious; I used the hot tubs, jacuzzi, tranquility rooms and private treatments and they were all great. My only disapointment was that I was not your guest for longer!
Very relaxing .
Found the process of booking on line rather confusing, thought i,d paid online .then had to repeat card number when checking in -then found had to repeat process when checking out-waiting to receive my credit card statement to make sure i,ve only paid once. Apart from this every thing was top notch.
We loved our room which overlooked the gardens and had a balcony. We found the staff friendly and pleasant .
Friends and relatives had less pleasant rooms. During the wedding we attended I felt that the MC sometimes seemed bored and tried to rush things along in a rather condescending manner.
